Welcome! Choosing a counselor is an important decision. Be Still and Grow Counseling, in Salem/Keizer, provides a safe place for individuals, couples and teens seeking to heal and grow. Each of our master’s level professional counselors has been trained in various modalities to offer evidence-based, counseling for adults, teens and couples. We offer counseling for those who struggle with emotional, relational pain, mental health issues including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, family history and grief. We also offer help to work through issues that can get in the way of achieving goals (performance, academic, business, sports)

Our goal is to help you work through the issues that are holding you back so that you can experience growth, healing and peace within yourself and in your relationships.

We offer in person counseling at 1755 Lockhaven Dr NE, Keizer Or 97303. We also offer telehealth appointments as needed.

We are located in the gravel parking lot between Dayspring Fellowship and Whitaker Middle School. Using 1745 Lockhaven Dr in your GPS will usually take you right to our building.

Meet our Staff

Ashley Gerber

Professional Counselor Associate, MA

Ashley is a Master’s-level Professional Counselor Associate at Be Still and Grow Counseling, holding a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Corban University. She works from an integrative framework grounded in object relations, person-centered, and attachment theories. Ashley believes that our earliest relationships shape how we understand ourselves and connect with others. Through a collaborative and compassionate therapeutic relationship, she supports clients in developing greater self-awareness, healing relational wounds, and creating new, more secure ways of relating to themselves and others. Ashley brings warmth, authenticity, and empathy to her practice with individuals navigating issues such as grief, anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, and identity. Her approach honors each client’s unique story and perspective, providing a space where they can safely explore, integrate, grow in self-awareness, and ultimately find healing.

“I believe that healing happens in safe relationships. My goal is to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can be fully known and understood, and from there we can collaborate to work towards healing and wholeness.”

Daniel Hagins

Daniel Hagins

Professional Counselor Associate, MA

Daniel is a Master’s-level Professional Counselor Associate at Be Still and Grow Counseling. Holding a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Corban University, he takes an integrative approach to therapy drawing from Adlerian, attachment-based, person-centered, and Christian counseling theories. Daniel works with children, adolescents, and adults who may be navigating a range of emotional, relational, and developmental challenges.

Daniel often supports clients who are motivated to grow but unsure where to begin. His work focuses on helping clients process stress, self-doubt, and past hurts that may keep them from living fully. With younger clients Daniel uses creative and developmentally appropriate methods to help express what words cannot. With teens and adults he emphasizes trust, insight, and grace.

Humor and curiosity help drive Daniel to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore and move toward meaningful and lasting change. He believes healing begins within relationships and everyone deserves the opportunity to feel heard, understood, and empowered.

Danyelle Huber

Danyelle Huber

Professional Counselor Associate, MA

Danyelle is a master’s level Professional Counselor Associate at Be Still and Grow Counseling. She is a graduate of Corban University’s Master of Arts program Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Danyelle uses an integrative approach to counseling, combining Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strengths-Based Counseling, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Person-Centered Therapy to meet the unique needs of those she works with. Danyelle works with individuals who experience challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, family and relational issues as well as the demands of athletic performance. She offers help for individuals 18 and older from all walks of life.  Danyelle currently offers only Telehealth (virtual) counseling.

Janelle Johnson

Janelle Johnson

Professional Counselor Associate, MA

Janelle is a master’s level Professional Counselor Associate at Be Still and Grow Counseling. She is a graduate of Corban University’s Master of Arts program in clinical mental health counseling. Janelle uses an integrative approach to counseling drawing from modalities such as brief psychodynamic, attachment theory, emotion-focused therapy, family systems, strengths-based and CBT. She brings a unique blend of warmth, empathy and experience to the practice of counseling and helps individuals, couples and adolescents who are dealing with a variety of mental health, emotional and relational issues including trauma, loss, anxiety and depression. Janelle’s counseling strategies aim to empower clients work through issues and develop healthy coping strategies so that they can heal, grow and navigate their lives and relationships with resilience and self-awareness. Janelle also has expertise regarding the unique pressures and demands of athletes and athletic performance.

Heidi Schaap

Professional Counselor Associate, MA

Heidi is a master’s-level Licensed Professional Counselor Associate at Be Still and Grow Counseling. She earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Corban University.

Heidi takes an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from Object Relations Theory, Brief Psychodynamic Theory, and Person-Centered Therapy. She practices from a trauma-informed and culturally competent perspective, honoring each client’s unique story and background.

Heidi provides counseling for individuals, adults, adolescents, and children ages six and up. Her background in social work includes experience in residential treatment with a focus on sexualized behavior treatment and abuse recovery. She works collaboratively with clients to identify underlying patterns, build emotional resilience, and foster healthier ways of relating to self and others.

Rich Sebens

Professional Counselor Associate, MA

Rich is a Master’s-level Professional Counselor Associate at Be Still and Grow Counseling. He earned his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Corban University.

Rich takes an integrative approach to counseling, drawing from Object Relations Theory, Brief Psychodynamic Theory, Person-Centered Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). His work is grounded in the belief that early experiences and relationships shape how individuals see themselves and connect with others. By exploring these internalized patterns, and learning tools, clients can experience healing and develop deeper self-understanding that leads to healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

Rich brings warmth, empathy, and experience to his practice, working with individuals and couples who are navigating challenges such as trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression. Rich comes to counseling after 20+ years of experience working in emergency services and response allowing him to have a deep understanding for those who have experience trauma and traumatic life experiences. His counseling process helps clients gain insight into who they are, heal emotional wounds, and build the capacity for change.

 Nate Sherwood

Nate Sherwood

Professional Counselor Associate, MA

Nate is a master’s level Professional Counselor Associate at Be Still and Grow Counseling.  Nate works with a diverse group of clientele including youth, teens and individuals who are dealing with a variety of mental health difficulties, including but not limited to emotion processing, family and relational dynamics, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, behavioral issue, and issues of self-worth. He is a graduate of Corban University’s Master of Arts program in clinical mental health counseling. In his counseling, Nate uses an integrative approach drawing from modalities such as brief psychodynamic, person-centered, strengths-based and CBT. These powerful strategies promote healing, growth, resilience and self-awareness.

Kirstie Swenson

Kirstie Swenson

Professional Counselor Associate, Administrator

Kirstie is a Master’s-level Professional Counselor Associate at Be Still and Grow Counseling, holding a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Corban University. She employs an integrative counseling approach, drawing on techniques from object relations, strengths-based therapy, attachment and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). With a compassionate blend of empathy, acceptance, and expertise, Kirstie supports individuals, couples, and youth 10 years and older who are facing a wide range of mental health, emotional, and relational challenges.

Kirstie’s counseling experience includes helping clients work through issues such as trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression, with a special focus on attachment injuries. Throughout the therapy process Kirstie will work collaboratively with you to process through current and past wounds and develop resilience which will empower you to heal, grow, and navigate your life and relationships in healthy ways. Kirstie also specializes in understanding the impact of attachment and early relationships on current coping mechanisms, helping clients strengthen their sense of self and foster more secure connections in their relationships.

Stephanie has been in the mental health field since 1992. She is passionate about health and wellness and enjoys mentoring, facilitating workshops and leading retreats. As a co-founder of BSGC, she is committed to providing counseling services to the community through her role as a supervisor.
(Stephanie is not taking counseling clients at this time.)

Lori has worked in the mental health field for over 30 years. Her passions include helping people grow in emotional/relational health, teaching, training and clinical supervision. As a co-founder of BSGC, she is committed to using her skills to positively contribute to mental health in our area through her role as clinical supervisor.
